Sorry that I have been so neglectful in posting for years now. I don’t think I have to explain myself. I think everyone gets why many of us, if not all of us, are a bit “out of it” for about the last 2 years.
Let’s Go Po’Girl!
There. That ought to encourage me a little bit to at least get a few of my favorite fall photos uploaded for your enjoyment.
Enjoy the remainder of Autumn where ever you are. Michigan is one of the best states to view the changing color of the leaves.
If that’s even an option for you. Life is fragile & fleeting & the future of our entire world has never been more unpredictable.
Interesting….
The same people that have been promoting abortion for many years are the same people who won’t let you see your mom this year.
I am going to forgo the usual political bitch fest and post some vintage pictures of my mother today beginning with the youngest to her becoming a mother. I’m the oldest of 6 children, all with the same father if you can believe that. That used to be a thing. Getting married & having children & staying married to the same man, for better or worse.
Guess which one it usually was?
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers. Being a mother has been the most joyful & fulfilling experience of my life. Where there is love, children are a blessing.
Hope your day is great even if you can’t be with your child this year for one reason or another.

I have no excuse. For years I worked off and on for professional finishing labs as well as a private One Hour Photo Lab that I operated for years, I did not own it. Along with photo finishing I sold cameras & had knowledge of their operation, went to workshops, etc. I used to care about aperture, film speed, now I switch my Pentax K200D to auto on everything I can.
I chose this body because I had a Pentax 35mm with a couple of lenses & I could interchange on this digital camera body which is what I have been doing for over 10 years. I absolutely need to upgrade but know when I do, another better digital camera will come out even cheaper.
One of my shortcomings is that I don’t always think things through or verify information that I have before I do things. Knowing quite a bit about cameras and their accessories gave me a false sense of security that I “knew it all.” When I found a “softener” filter in my lens size I got all excited & purchased it. It didn’t occur to me to ask why it had (B) on it.
Come to find out that B is a stronger softener than the A that was not available at the time. Had I questioned the proprietor I would have been told that this filter has a stronger softening effect than A and asked them to order it for me since that was my intent. I wished just the slightest hint of softening. Instead I ended up with almost a “fog” effect which I intend trying at a later date in a cemetery or especially with lights like at Christmas.
Needless to say I used it a few times and was not happy with it.
Sharing the results of the Hoya 49mm softener B results. I promise to do another post later when use it again with specific results in mind. I had no idea what the effects would actually be until this trial shoot at Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan and my yard.

I prefer the plant less the insect that is too blurry on the other photograph.
Not happy with animals or Insects results with this lens.
This lens does not do justice to delicate pink rose petals starting to fade.
I don’t hate a few of these shots. The Coneflowers are interesting.
Miscellaneous flower shots. A few are not bad. I need to play with it more.
And what a May Day it’s turning out to be. God only knows anymore what will occur on any given day in our twisted world of selfish Godlessness. The evil ones take a day and hijack it as another excuse to act childish and violent in the streets calling it a protest, when all they mean to do is act out in violence and hatred to anyone who is not on their side. I will never be on the side of evil. Evil has turned me from at one time being “liberal” to despising those with that title. The evil ones hijacked that term as well as hold it as a shield to trick some into thinking they are selfless and caring when they seem to only care about the rights of someone that takes everyone’s else’s rights away. They do not stand for justice, fairness or decency so they don’t stand for me.
Protesters pretend to care about various things but their actions prove very different. They are angry, immature and don’t care who they effect adversely by all the polluting and littering they leave not to mention the actual destruction and harm they cause to others or our earth. The devil comes to steal and destroy, not Godly people and I definitely judge a man by his actions. How you treat others, so shall your Father in Heaven treat you. The same goes for our earth. The way it’s treated, it will react in kind.

Po’ Girl Gardens
I once won a litter bug contest sponsored by a local program in Detroit by naming the litter bugs when I was about 8 years old. I can’t remember the names but did win a board game of some sort. My father who was part Native American gave me a knife when I was young and told me how to use it and how not to use it to respect all the living things on this planet. My parents were not perfect, but had good values. They explained about how everything we see growing is alive, the importance of organic gardening and not using herbicides and pesticides as so many do because it’s easier. By now everyone should know better. In all my years of gardening as an adult I have never had it harder because I didn’t use chemicals. I did have to kill some pests by hand as well as do more weeding until more mulch was placed in some areas and I’ve mixed up a batch of spray to place on some plants to deter pests with garlic water and Fels soap.
I still have much to do and will update after I feel there is something more to show. I like to use photo transfers from my inkjet printer on all kinds of paper and cloth. Computer software is great for making all kinds of special effects to customize your mixed media art. I usually make a transfer off of construction paper or vellum due to the thickness of the paper. I will just affix any pictures printed onto tracing paper with the paper, inkside down. You have to be very careful when you are working with inkjet photos instead of laserjet, because they smear worse. I always apply the medium to the canvas or the board and then affix the picture ink side down carefully in place so you don’t have to move it. Then you are free to add additional medium to the top and edges to firm in place without any fear it will smear.
I know that I will be adding additional paint and perhaps stamping techniques, maybe even covering up some of the images that are already on the canvas. I will sometimes work something over so much that it is no longer recognizable from the first creation. Like any artist, I just keep working until I feel it is complete. I do plan on adding more mixed media hardware and fabric as well.
